IPL Frequently Asked Questions

Our IPL treatments use light energy to target pigmented or damaged skin cells or hair follicles. The light heats cells in the skin to break them down. When heated, the body removes the damaged tissue. IPL therapy can treat a range of skin conditions at the same time.
Yes! Just like with any cosmetic procedure, you will want to seek the care of medically trained professionals like the team at Well Within. Board-certified providers lead our team with years of experience. IPL therapy requires no downtime. You may be red and warm for a few hours.
IPL works similarly to laser therapy. The difference is that laser therapy releases a single wavelength of light energy, whereas IPL therapy releases multiple different wavelengths, like a photoflash. IPL therapy penetrates down to the second layer of your skin (dermis) without harming the top layer (epidermis). We provide both IPL and laser treatments. Our team will walk you through the options and make sure you fully understand each. We’ll explain the differences and help you decide on which is best for you. At Well Within we focus on not just providing you with treatments, but also educating you on them.
Effects of IPL therapy are gradual. You begin to see a change within a week to 10 days.
To get optimal results, we recommend four to six treatments with one month in between. Final results should last around one year, but you may choose to get maintenance treatments to keep your results fresher for longer.
  • While home care is important, getting a professional facial deep cleaning at a spa is comparable to getting a dental cleaning at the dentist. Estheticians use medical grade products and tools that give you incomparable results to treating yourself at home.

1540 Fractionated Laser

1540 using the CynoSure ICON laser is a non-ablative laser that divides up light energy into microbeams that target surface skin cells and the middle layers of the skin to intensively restore the skin. These microbeams create deep, narrow columns in the skin to stimulate the body’s natural healing response to grow new and healthy tissue that appears smoother and more even. The 1540 fractional laser is exceptional is that it treatsboth the epidermal and dermal alers of the skin without downtime.

1540 is a great option for those that want the results of aggressive ablative lasers without the side effects of downtime. The 1540 laser convers energy into microscopic treatment zones to treat a fraction of the skin at a time. This is how new collagen production is stimulated and how existing collagen fibers are tightened and rearranged. Collagen remodeling is triggered when the body believes that it has been injured and stress is placed on the collagen fibers. The fractionated 1540 laser creates “controlled injuries” to the epidermal and dermal layers without harming the top layer of skin. This is why there’s no down time or peeling skin.

  • What does it treat? Fine lines, wrinkles, acne scarring, scar improvement, hyperpigmentation, melasma, skin laxity, overall skin quality, stretch marks, and moderate sun damage. Multiple sessions are required for best results. Over the few weeks following treatment, you will see continued improvement in both the color and texture of your skin. Full results can be seen three to six months as cellular rejuvenation continues to take place.
  • Does it hurt? Most patients feel only mild discomfort and find the procedure tolerable. The machine delivers energy is short, quick bursts and patients sometimes compare the sensation to that of a snap of a rubber band.
